Healthcare

Moore and Smalley have a number of specialists who have the knowledge and awareness to help clients within the Healthcare sector. We act for a number of businesses in the Medical, Dental and Care Home niches, and provide tailored advice to help our clients reach both their personal and professional goals.

The Healthcare service teams are headed up by partner Deborah Wood based at our Blackpool office. Deborah was instrumental in setting up the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA) in 1995. This network of independent accountancy firms throughout the UK specialises in services to the medical profession. Deborah is also a regular presenter to the sector and has written a number of articles for many of the trade publications.

We recently expanded our East Midlands branch after merging with local firm Dean Burrows Stevenson Chartered Accountants. This move supports Moore and Smalley’s presence in the healthcare sector and has doubled the size of the East Midlands healthcare division who are now based in Nottingham. Nick Stevenson is the partner who heads up the East Midlands team.

Each team includes partners, senior managers and consultants who are specialists in their area and offer expert advice on a number of issues. Moore and Smalley has a wealth of experience in dealing with the financial affairs of its clients and understand the specific accounting needs of all businesses within the Healthcare sector.

Awards: Recently the firm won the inaugural HealthInvestor magazine Accountants of the Year award for our work for clients in the Healthcare sector. In 2012 we were finalists for Financial Advisors of the Year at the General Practice Awards.

MHA: We are also part of a UK wide association called MHA who collectively look after over 2000 healthcare clients. To see our credentials please click here.

RCGP 'Making Sense of Commissioning' video: In late 2012, we were asked to take part in a 'Making Sense of Commissioning' video which was screened at the RCGP conference and aired on Sky and Freesat. The video addresses some of the impending changes to the sector and the opportunities and threats healthcare professionals need to be aware of. To view this video please click here.

Essenital End of Tax Year Planning Guide 2012/13: Despite the press sentiment to the contrary, tax planning is legal and where carried out in accordance with the intentions of Parliament, entirely legitimate. Financial planning, including tax planning, should be part of the annual financial housekeeping of every individual who are seeking to plan for their future. We have produced a specific guide for healthcare professionals which summarises some key tax and financial planning tips which should be considered prior to the end of the tax year on 5th April 2013.
