Education
Moore and Smalley advise a number of academy schools, independent schools and FE colleges.
Academy Schools
The Moore and Smalley charities and not-for-profit team has worked with a number of schools, helping them to gain academy status. We work closely with our clients to ensure they meet the comprehensive regulations of the Charities Act, Charities SORP and the Companies Act. We are able to advise schools on the implications of becoming a charitable limited company, including the tax and VAT implications, and HR and payroll issues.

Independent Schools
Independent schools face a number of issues which have become more prevalent during the recession. Governors and headteachers face increasing competition, falling pupil numbers and rising costs, all adding pressure to the strategic priorities as well as the day to day operations of the school. Moore and Smalley’s specialists can help you assess where you can improve efficiencies as well as ensuring compliance with audit and tax regulations.
FE Colleges
Our advisors work closely with a number of Further Education colleges in the region. As some members of our team are trustees of FE Colleges themselves, we understand the complexities surrounding this sector. We can offer advice on accounts, audit and tax, as well as ‘non compliance’ work, including strategic planning.
For further information on how we help the education sector, please contact Tracey Johnson or Christine Wilson.
