National Payroll Week 2017: Putting Something Back

National Payroll Week is a national, annual event which recognises and celebrates not only the impact of payroll on business, but also the contribution that payroll makes to the UK economy.

This year it took place from 4th to 8th September and our payroll team used it both as a way to put a spotlight on the work done by payroll professionals and to raise funds for local charities.

MHA Moore and Smalley’s offices were decorated and the teams held a variety of fundraising activities.

On Wednesday 6th September, the Lancaster office payroll team opened their doors and put on a very enjoyable buffet to share with their guests. Staff took part in the various quizzes and games available in support of their chosen charity, the Neonatal Unit at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Friday 8th was the open day for the Preston team. They were happy to welcome a quite overwhelmed Andy, the father of local lad, Kieran Miller, who sadly lost his life to Cystic Fibrosis.

Their chosen charity was the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in Kieran’s memory. (https://www.justgiving.com/remember/441268/Kieran-Miller).

A very impressive buffet with homemade cakes was unveiled and once more games and party tunes were played. Thank you to Barry from Star (our payroll software provider) for the contribution of a hand delivered and beautifully decorated cake.

Thanks to the kind donations from all who took part, purchasing raffle tickets, quizzes and fortune cookies. A grand total of £316 was raised which will be split between the two chosen charities.
