Ian MacGregor

Professional: Ian has been involved with Lonsdale & Partners and its predecessor firms for 30 years. Ian is a strong all round business advisor, providing a range of services and advice to commercial clients. He has a strong emphasis on family farming businesses and has developed a specialist knowledge of capital taxes relating to the agricultural sector.

Ian believes the merger with Moore and Smalley should enable the new firm to enhance its offering to clients in specialist business sectors and be more responsive to clients’ planning needs.

Personal: Ian is an all round sports fan, with a keen interest in Scottish rugby union and Aston Villa FC .In fact on a professional level it is Aston Villa’s American owner, Randy Lerner, who Ian admires greatly for his respect of the club’s heritage and also, he adds, “for not loading it with debt.”

When Ian is not watching sport you can either find him relaxing out on the greens at Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club, where he is also the treasurer, or gardening. Ian is also treasurer of Lunedale Agricultural Society. Ian enjoys holidaying in the UK with his wife and three daughters, preferably in Cornwall or Scotland – depending on the weather!
