Why did you choose a training opportunity/career with MHA Moore and Smalley?


Although I didn’t train with MHA Moore and Smalley, it was the first firm I applied to when I made the decision to relocate to the Preston area. The firm had an excellent reputation both in terms of its clients and also the fact that it looked after staff.  I wanted a firm that was big enough to provide opportunities and small enough so that staff aren’t just a number.


Can you describe your job role on a day to day basis?


There isn’t a typical day as it varies constantly. I manage a portfolio of clients so may be out on site or attending meetings to plan or finalise work. I am also involved in a number of specialist areas including charities and academies, so part of my time is spent writing technical updates or blogs for these areas.


What do you enjoy most about working at MHA Moore and Smalley?


I enjoy the variety of clients that I am able to work on.  The focus on client service within the firm allows me to spend time ensuring that the service I provide to clients is appreciated by them.  The relationships that I am able to develop with clients as a result is very rewarding. I am also part of a brilliant team of like-minded individuals.



How has MHA Moore and Smalley helped you?


I have benefitted from an excellent work life balance whilst my children were small and was very well looked after when I was pregnant. I have gained experience in new areas and been part of growing the team and the specialist area of Academy schools. I have developed new skills in the areas of staff coaching and other areas of staff engagement which reflect the firm’s focus on ensuring staff are valued and developed.


What are your goals for the future?


I would like to take on more responsibility for specialist areas with the firm with the ultimate goal of becoming a Director. I am keen to enhance my staff management skills in order to develop staff and ensure that they are getting maximum job satisfaction. I would also like to build further relationships within the local charity sector.  As part of my progression I have been appointed as Governor at a local school which has allowed me to use some of my experience from ‘the other side’.

Get involved in as much as you can!
