Preston’s dealmakers take top corporate finance awards

PRESTON’S corporate finance community has clinched a number of top awards at a ceremony to honour Lancashire’s leading dealmakers.

Moore and Smalley Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors was one of the big winners at the 2010 Insider Lancashire Dealmakers Awards.

The firm’s corporate finance team was named Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year, while corporate finance partner, Rob Kenmare, was named Dealmaker of the Year.

It is the second time in three years that Kenmare has scooped the award, regarded as the evening’s biggest prize. Kenmare and his team advised on nine deals in 2009, including Enterprise’s acquisition of the power services division of Bethell Group, which was also named Deal of the Year.

He said: “It shows the strength and depth of our team that even in the midst of a recession we have remained busy and managed to keep our team intact while others have had to scale back their corporate finance operations.”

The Insider Lancashire Dealmakers Awards recognise those in the professional and financial services community in the Red Rose County that make business deals happen. The event, held at Ewood Park, Blackburn, was attended by over 200 accountants, bankers, financiers, lawyers from Lancashire’s business community.
